Like I get it, pirate activity is a major part of the game's dynamic, but there should be some sort of check and balance in place where if they get too uppity for too long the core factions/bounty hunters/indie joint fleets will steamroll them into the stoneage for a few years in return for some global instability or something so you don't have to do literally everything yourself.

It's not so much that they steamroll the whole core (although they do zergmode out of control like a demonic cockroach invasion), it's that if you're not johnny on the spot with a fleet of pirate fuckers they'll kill a world within too short a timeframe for you to drop what you're doing and save it.
